Graphic Designer's Memos about Branding Trends and Creative Moments
After spending almost two decades preparing graphics for others and planning their digital engagements I began to write memos to help solopreneurs create the solid brand design they need to succeed. You can access these memos by clicking on the Branding and Design section below.
Hi, I'm Margaret
I love to work on the details of digital images and plan small business branding strategies. Therefore, my focus is on Branding and Design. However, in other creative moments, I also pen memos about ways of making Money Online and Tales from my favorite travels. I hope these will also gather some interest.
Have you ever wondered how successful brands create and maintain their visual identity effortlessly? It often starts with a mood board. It is a collage to envision and shape your brand's visual elements, all in one place. It is also the go-to outline for building up the already-designed elements in a consistent manner.
When choosing colors for a brand, it’s essential to remember that colors set the mood, attract attention, and make a statement. Captivating colors and images make people stop and look. Your story can be powerful and well-written, but “the look” will provoke people to read it. The first impression is crucial and the colors, are a big part of it.
Choosing fonts for a brand is as important as the logo design or color palette selection. Fonts have personality; they can be fancy or formal, decorative, simple, bold, or subtle. The right font will represent your brand’s mission and appeal to your target audience.
Designing a logo for a brand is more than picking pretty shapes or fonts—it's about capturing the heart of your business in a single, memorable image. A good logo reflects your brand values, connects with your audience, and stays consistent across everything from product packaging to social media.
These terms: Brand Guidelines, Brand Style Guide, and Brand Guidance Kit sound alike and are sometimes used interchangeably. They refer to the same concept: a set of rules and standards that ensure consistency in representing a brand across many media and platforms. However, they are not the same.
A Brand Assets Library is like the holy grail of brand consistency. It is a collection of files and documents, where all the creative assets are stored and organized for easy access. These files are used by designers, marketers, and content creators to ensure your brand’s consistency across all touchpoints and speed up their creative process.
